Fun and strategy?
Those are not two words we often hear in the same sentence. And they’re certainly not something we’d link together believing their union would be the key to unlocking our next level of success.
Most entrepreneurs and high-level leaders I come across have a belief that to reach their next level of success, they simply need to get better at what they’re already good at:
better systems,
better strategic thinking,
better time management,
better discipline.
For most of my career, I’ve been no different. In fact, that way of thinking has led me to high levels of success.
HOWEVER…

How much FUN did you have last week running your business and leading your team?
You might think that’s a silly question.
“What’s FUN have to do with it? Business isn’t supposed to be FUN. It’s WORK.”
However, study after study reveals that fun is one of the most powerful ingredients to reaching higher levels of success.
- Fun leads to higher levels of creativity and innovation.
- Fun reduces turnover within your team.
- Fun increases engagement on your team.
- Fun increases your ability to problem solve.
- Fun reduces stress and eliminates burnout (BTW, research shows STRESS is costing you and your team hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars a year).
- Fun gives you more joy, peace, freedom, and ENERGY.
Aren’t all of those, things you want more of in your world, rather than feeling like you’re grinding it out every day, stressing and sprinting from one thing to the next?
Here are five quick thoughts to help you create 20% more fun in your business this week
- Choose to see the growth of your business as an Adventure.
Stop taking it so seriously. You’re not that important and this problem isn’t as big as you’re making it. You’re not trying to prove anything; your self-worth isn’t on the line here. The journey you’re on is an adventure filled with ups and downs designed to aid in your growth.
- Stop trying to engineer and control the outcomes and start embracing them.
Since when did you get appointed as God? Stop pretending you can control anything other than your attitude, focus, and actions. Focusing on anything else is a waste of energy. Champions don’t control outcomes; they embrace what comes and use it to propel them higher.
- Enter the day with a SERVICE-FIRST Mindset.
I find whenever I take the focus off myself and what I want and start focusing on others and helping them get what they want, it’s nearly impossible not to have fun, because who doesn’t like helping people?
Get off self. Get back on purpose.
- Choose the More Empowering Story
The only reason we feel stress around the situation is because we’ve chosen to attach a disempowering story to that circumstance. Next time something happens in your business you didn’t want, try asking yourself “how might this have been the perfect outcome?”
Sounds ridiculous, but you’ll always find what you’re looking for. So why not look for an empowering story rather than a stress-filled one? Either way, you’re gonna buy a “story” you made up!
- Set up reminders/triggers in your day to Realign Your Heart/Mind
Reality is, you might have the best morning routine in the world that focuses you mentally and emotionally, but we ALL get thrown off at times. Why not create a reminder in your day, a 1-2min pause to check in with yourself and reset your intention for the remainder of the day?
Every day I have an alarm set on my phone at 12:20 pm. Every day, it’s a reminder for me to pause and check in. “Am I coming from service? Am I choosing an empowering story? Am I embracing what comes or attempting to control it? Have I seen today as an adventure in the journey of growing my business or a test where I’m passing/failing?”
