Get Clear & Make Traction on What MATTERS

Do you ever feel like you’re starting your day reacting to what needs handled in the moment rather than having a clear sense of what’s most important?

Do you ever find yourself checking lots of things off your list and yet you’re not seeing the traction you want – nor at the speed you want?

You’re not alone.

Fortunately, there is a solution.

It starts by choosing to step off the treadmill you’re on right now.

Easier said than done, right? That’s the problem with us high-achievers.

We’re always running from one thing to the next thinking that success lies in our ability to “fit one more thing in”.

However, that way of thinking will always keep you working on the tasks that maintain the business rather than those that develop it.

You                 need               space.

If you just internally pushed back on that statement, that’s the very reason why your business isn’t doing 3x what it’s doing right now.

Space isn’t something you “find” in your calendar, it’s something you intentionally CREATE. And you create it because you know unequivocally how vital it is to your business reaching its potential.

Space creates CLARITY.

And without clarity, you’ll remain enslaved to the “trivial many” in your business, that keep you spinning your wheels, rather than narrowing in on the “vital few”, that really make the difference in your business moving forward.

You owe it to those counting on you to create the space necessary to gain the clarity you need!

I’d recommend a solid 90 min. to start. Block it out in your calendar right now, this week.

Cancel a meeting if you have to, delay a task or project, it can wait. Then spend some time on the questions below:

FIVE KEY QUESTIONS TO CREATE CLARITY AND ACCELERATE YOUR RESULTS

1) What’s the one outcome professionally in the next 12-24 months that if I accomplished, it’d make the most significant difference?

The timeline here might be 1yr, 2yrs, 5yrs… What matters is you’re thinking far enough out into the future that the outcome creates a significant impact.

2) If this outcome had 3-5 “phases” necessary to accomplish it, what might those phases be? How long would I estimate completing each of those phases might take?

Break down that big goal into stages or phases with an estimated timeline.

You can estimate time to completion in terms of hours, days, weeks, or months. That will largely depend on many factors, including how many stakeholders are involved in making it happen.

However long you think it’ll take, add another 30% to that estimate!

3) Take the first two phases and ask “What are the 3-5 key steps to completing each of these phases? How long would I estimate completing each of those steps might take?

Now you have a roadmap for each of the first couple phases. Leave the other phases for later.

Estimate a timeline for accomplishing each of those smaller steps that make up the completion of a phase of the overall project…and then once again, add 30% to it!

4) Over the next 90 days, how far could I progress with these 1-2 phases?

Look at your calendar over the next 90 days & ask what’s realistic. You might be able to get through both phases or you might only get through the first 2 steps of phase 1.

The speed is irrelevant, knowing you’re making progress on something that actually matters is what counts! After you finish 90 days, do the same exercise for 60 days and 30 days.

5) How can I translate these into practical execution?

Over the next 30 days, decide each week how much progress you want to make in each of those steps. Block off the time. If your calendar is packed to the brim for the next 30 days, that’s part of the problem.

Ruthlessly eliminate, post-pone or delegate anything that is not absolutely necessary for YOU to accomplish to make the time necessary to work ON your business. The progress on that next step in the process now becomes the highest priority each day or for that week.
